John Lewis enjoys ‘very healthy’ sales growth
Department store group John Lewis saw its sales grow 8.5 per cent last week, boosted by a jump in demand for childrenswear and online orders.
The employee-owned retailer said the rise in total sales to £72.7 million for the week to 21 September was also helped by continued strong demand for gadgets such as cameras and tablet computers.
Simon Russell, director of retail operations development, said: “The cooler weather in the early part of the week certainly hit the mark for the autumn assortments and helped us record a very healthy 8.5 per cent growth.”
