Second Good Samaritan motorist dies after accident
The victim was one of two men struck as they helped a motorist who was involved in a collision with another vehicle on 31 January. Thomas Rarity, 47, from Bathgate, West Lothian, died at the scene. The other motorist, who had been driving a BMW, was taken to Glasgow's Southern General Hospital, where he died on Saturday, police said.
The first crash victim, a 71-year-old woman, was taken to Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital. The authorities could not provide an update on her condition yesterday.

Hide AdThe two men had gone to help the woman when they saw her Volkswagen Polo car in collision with a Seat Leon – both heading east – on the A737 near Linwood, Renfrewshire.
The Polo ended up crossing the central reservation and the two men who stopped to help went over to the westbound carriageway. An oncoming van then struck the pair.
