In the end it was decided by Calum McGregor’s second-half own goal, when Joe Aribo flicked James Tavernier’s corner onto the unwitting Celtic captain with 20 minutes to play.
Celtic had enjoyed a dominant first half but a half-time change from Steven Gerrard improved Rangers’ fortunes, aided further when Nir Bitton hauled down Alfredo Morelos after an hour and was shown a red card by Bobby Madden.

1. Allan McGregor - 9
At times it was a one-man mission to keep Celtic out in the first half as the visitors overloaded the home penalty area. Unbelievable double stop early on and then even better tip to deny Griffiths. Would have been a different result without him. Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group
2. James Tavernier - 6
Quiet again and unable to get forward as much as usual, but showed his worth with his wicked delivery that brought the goal off McGregor's shoulder Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group
3. Connor Goldson - 7
Shackled Edouard on all but one occasion and then recovered well, brave in the blocks under pressure in a manic first half for the home side's defence, improved once space opened up after the red card. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group
4. Leon Balogun - 8
Preferred to Helander for his pace and it came in useful at times, but shaky moments in the defence early on with Celtic camped in the area just outside Rangers' box. Excellent in the end as he shut Celtic down in closing stages. Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group
