This weekend the 2008 movie adaptation of the novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth is showing, and is an adventure action film that brings
the original 1959 version up-to-date with 3D effects.
The newly released movie stars Mummy actor Brendan Fraser on a quest to find out what happened to his missing brother, a scientist who disappeared years earlier in Iceland.
Him and his nephew stumble upon a major discovery that launches them on a thrilling journey deep beneath the Earth's surface, where they travel through never-before-seen worlds and encounter a variety of unusual creatures. The movie is directed by Academy Award-winning visual effects veteran Eric Brevig (Total Recall, Pearl Harbor).
Tuesday evening and next Friday night brings a change of pace with the Filmhouse Recommended, Priceless, a playful romantic comedy with great chemistry between the leads. In French with English subtitles, through a set of wacky circumstances, a young gold digger mistakenly woos a mild-mannered bartender thinking he's a wealthy suitor.
But Hollywood star Will Smith and co-stars Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman will grace screen on Thursday evening, with the blockbuster superhero film Hancock. John Hancock (Smith) is a hard-drinking vigilante superhero from Los Angeles, whose reckless actions routinely cost the city millions of dollars. Eventually one person he saves, Ray Embrey (Bateman), makes it his mission to change Hancock's public image for the better.
Friday night presents the last chance to see the fast-paced Filmhouse recommended Female Agents, about a five-woman commando unit.
