THE dilapidated former Wilton Mills building has been made safe by Scottish Borders Council.
Scaffolding work has been undertaken to secure the derelict Commercial Road property, which had been deemed by engineers to be in danger of collapsing.

But speaking at a meeting of Teviot and Liddesdale Area Committee last week, SBC official Alan Gueldner advised that the future of the Listed building lies in the hands of its owner.

He stated: "Whether it is saved or demolished is not a decision for us to take. But we will be pursuing the matter to be resolved as soon as possible."

The council will also be recovering the costs of the works from the developer.
