Another Knight to remember for Jack

HE'S already shared a stage with a Bee Gee, a Rolling Stone and chart-topper Paolo Nutini.

Now Edinburgh's teenage singing sensation Jack Robertson is set to perform in yet another star-studded concert alongside a familiar face - soul singer Beverley Knight.

The 16-year-old from Liberton will share a stage with the global superstar for a second time at the 800th birthday celebrations of Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire in August.

Jack first performed alongside the R&B star, who will top the bill at Fyvie Live, at a London ball celebrating 50 years of the Bee Gees in January 2009. Jack, a fifth year pupil at Liberton High School, said: "I think she's absolutely amazing and it will be great to see her again."

"I'm definitely the most excited about seeing Beverley Knight, she really stood out at the last concert - she has a really strong, powerful voice."

The event, which is being held in aid of charity Friends of ANCHOR, is expected to attract a capacity crowd of 5000 - one of the biggest crowds that Jack has performed to.

Jack added: "I think I'll be performing one or two songs in the evening. I saw the venue and I think it looks an absolutely amazing place to perform. I can't wait."

Jack is still to meet with organisers to decide what exactly he will be performing, and if he will be singing with any of the other stars. He hopes to sing a Michael Bubl track.

His proud mum Claire said: "The organisers contacted Jack and asked if he would like to sing - he was really chuffed. At the end of the last concert they had the big finale - How Deep Is Your Love - and that's when he stood just behind Beverley Knight.

"This time he's really looking forward to it. He's older and knows a little bit more about these people from when he was young.

"The last time he went up to Beverley Knight and said, 'my mum really loves your music'. He thought she was Gladys Knight! She just laughed.

"It's really nice that he's getting the opportunity to meet her again."

The chart-topper, who has performed with the likes of Prince, Stevie Wonder, Take That and Chaka Khan, is expected to be a major draw at Fyvie Live on August 13.

Friends of ANCHOR chairman and businessman, Jim Milne, said: "We are thrilled to have attracted such a stunning line-up to Fyvie Castle to help mark this milestone."
