Court hears of car crash

A MUM and her toddler son were killed in a horrific crash on the M8 after a car driven by a French woman swerved over a contraflow, a court has heard.

Laura Binns, 30, of Largs, and her two-year-old son Kieran died in the two-car smash near Harthill, Lanarkshire on August 31, 2008.

They were being driven through a 40mph contraflow when they were involved in a collision with a car driven by Jennifer Lunet, aged 30 of Raeburn Rigg, Livingston. She is charged with causing death by driving without due care and attention, which she denies.

Lunet's Ford Mondeo was travelling towards Edinburgh when it's claimed it veered through the traffic cones.

The trial, which heard yesterday from witnesses and a police crash scene investigator, continues.
