Fred's learning tricks of the trade

Comedian Fred MacAulay showed his support for the Hospitality Industry Trust (Hit) Scotland when he met recipients of a scholarship scheme.

Lorna Jackson of Radisson Blu, Tamara Kobiolke from Hotel Missoni and Simon Magnus of the Gleneagles Hotel were named as beneficiaries of the scholarships at Hit's annual Emerging Talent Conference yesterday.

The scheme is aimed at improving Scottish hospitality and will give scholars the chance to learn new skills at home and abroad.

Hit Scotland invests 250,000 in the scheme, which is estimated to be worth nearly 1 million in training, staff retention and future income.
