Local news: QMU costume students take to the catwalk

COSTUME students at Queen Margaret University took to the catwalk to showcase their "glitzy" designs.

The university's fourth annual Catwalk event was designed to be bigger and bolder than previous years, with students showing off everything from outlandish costumes to period drama designs.

Polly Lister, lecturer in costume design, said: "A lot of thought has gone into these costumes and we are extremely proud at the level of creativity and originality."

Fashion show to raise funds for playgroup

A FASHION fundraiser will be held at Mansfield Traquair showcasing the latest in clothing trends for youngsters in aid of St Mary's Primary School and playgroup.

The event, on May 27 at 6.30pm, will feature stalls from Valvona & Crolla, Jenners, and hair stylists Dickson Reid, among others.

Tickets to the event, organised by ex-Louis Vuitton and Versace model Anna Freemantle, are 12.

Schools get set for run

SCHOOLS from across Edinburgh are getting set for this year's Tesco Great School Run.

The young runners and parents from schools including Duddingston Primary School, Buckstone Primary and Gylemuir Primary all took part in a training run at Duddingston Primary on Friday.

Hotel staff ready for marathon

Staff at the city's Hotel Missoni are hoping to raise 3000 by taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday.

The 12-strong team will take on the half-marathon and "Hairy Haggis relay" in specially designed Missoni vests created by fashion legend Rosita Missoni.

A COMPANY from the Capital has been named as Scotland's top property adviser.

Colliers International won the accolade at the annual Estates Gazette Regional Award after beating off competition from Jones Lang LaSalle, Cushman & Wakefield, King Sturge and Ryden.
