Letter: Odeon mystery

Given that Duddingston House Properties (DHP) plans to reapply for consent to demolish the Odeon's auditorium (Letters, 11 February), it's worth reminding ourselves of a few simple facts.

Nearly eight years ago, in a buoyant property market, DHP bought the building, knowing it was B-listed but in good order, for 1.5 million. After eight years of neglect, it tells us its value today is about 3m - the same building and listing, but in a recession and rotting away. So which is it? Did DHP pay below market value when it bought it, or are buyers being asked to pay double the market value now?
