CHAPPY'S Champions emerged victorious to lift the Keown Trophy in its 40th anniversary year.
On Saturday, the Trinity Primary School outfit defeated Darcy's Dynamites, from Stirches, in the final by eight tries to three to claim the silverware from George Keown himself, following a morning of thrilling rugby.

Eight primary schools took part in what turned out to be a try-scoring feast – over the four matches, there were 38 touchdowns.

The event kicked off with the first match between Alexander's All Blacks and Bell's Bombers, and this encounter set the tone for the day with a thriller ending in seven tries apiece, although Alexander's All Blacks claimed the win due to their more successful tally of conversions.

The second game was an all Drumlanrig affair with Renwick's Reivers being defeated by Robbie's Rhinos, the outcome again decided by virtue of a successful conversion rate after the score was tied at three tries each.

As the atmosphere was building, Owen's All Stars took the field to play Atkinson's All Blacks for the Chrysties Quaich. And in yet another exciting match, it was Owen's All Stars who took the honours, winning by a single try.

After the final, every player from every team was presented with a T-shirt, rugby ball and commemorative medal.

Marion Chrystie presented the Chrystie's Quaich to Owen's All Stars, while Mr Keown did the honours with the Keown Trophy, as he did for the first time some 40 years ago.

Hawick Rugby club would like to congratulate all the players for providing a great morning of entertaining rugby, as well as thanking Hawick Trades, Hawick Rotary and the continued support of Chrystie's Furnishing Centre for making the day a huge success.
