HAWICK Linden coach John Tait has identified Quins scrum-half Rory McPherson as the danger-man ahead of tomorrow's Scottish Cup clash at the Volunteer Park.
And he admitted his side will be paying close attention to the 27-year-old as they look to preserve their fine home record.

He said: "I think they've got a potential match-winner in Rory McPherson, he's an awesome player. He's learned his trade we
ll and he's been up to Langholm and by all accounts he's playing out of his skin at the Quins.

"I've watched him and he's quality if you let him play, we've just got to make sure we don't let that happen."

The last time these two teams met in the league earlier in the season, the Linden edged the win, thanks largely to the boot of Barry Sutherland, who kicked seven penalties.

However, Tait is expecting his pack to have a much busier afternoon tomorrow.

He added: "I think it will be a forward-orientated game. They'll be wanting to hit us hard up front and we've got to be up for that."

Meanwhile, Quins coach Ronnie Nichol is confident his young guns have matured enough since their previous meeting to gain revenge over their rivals.

And with almost 30 boys at training this week, he said everybody was raring to go.

"The last time we played them in the league earlier in the season I think we were a bit overawed," he said. "We had two or three boys in the pack and they stood off them a bit, but hopefully they've learned their lesson from that."
